SRINAGAR: Hundreds of students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) protested on Tuesday against the ongoing killings of civilians in Kashmir.
Raising the peace slogans and covering their one eye each with bandage to represent the pellet victims of Kashmir, the students held a march from Mulana Azad Library to Bab-e-Sayed Gate (main gate) of the University.
The protesters condemned the use of force in Kashmir. They said efforts should be made to resolve Kashmir, instead of discussing Kashmir only when the situation in the region turns violent.
They said the Indian state has been ignoring the plight of the people who have been under curfew for the past 40 days.
The protesters also criticised the government of India for trying to counter the Kashmir situation by raising the issue Balochistan. The focus should be on ending the human rights violations in Kashmir, they said.
