SRINAGAR: Top RSS and BJP leaders participated in the inaugural session of the two-day event organised by India Foundation on Saturday at Patnitop, Ramban, to discuss the agenda for supposed dialogue between New Delhi and pro-freedom leaders of Kashmir.
Media reports suggested that as many as 80 pro-Sangh Parivar ‘intellectuals’ are attending the conclave of India Foundation, a pro-BJP think-tank comprising journalists, thinkers, and intellectuals.
“Dattatreya Hosabale, joint general secretary, RSS, and RSS J&K Prant Pracharak Ramesh Pappa, attended the inaugural session. Both top RSS leaders will attend all eight sessions of the conclave in which agenda will be set to move forward in engaging dia-logue with some groups of Kashmir Valley, including separatist groups,” a report carried by Chandigarh-based The Tribune newspaper said.
“Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani and BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav also attended the inaugural session. In the closed-door session, intellectuals discussed the prevailing situation in Kashmir, especially the turmoil after the killing of Burhan Wani,” it said.
As per the report the participants suggested that “nationalist forces” should not be demoralised while taking any decision on initiating dialogue with the pro-freedom leaders.
Some of them cautioned that any “wrong decision” at “this crucial juncture” would prove disastrous for the “nationalist forces of Jammu and Kashmir”, said the report, adding that Irani returned to Delhi after attending the first two sessions.
