Militants have suspended operations in areas where civilians are protesting: UJC

Srinagar: The United Jihad Council, the Muzaffarabad-based grouping of all militant organisations fighting against Indian rule in Kashmir, said on Friday that militants have suspended their activities in places where people are protesting and holding rallies so “that they don’t become targets of Indian terror”.
“However, in mountainous and places where there are no habitations we will continue our attacks on Indian forces,” said UJC secretary general Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rahman.
Paying homage to the people who have been martyred  in Kashmir, he said the new generation of youths are the heirs of the martyrs.
“India has to leave humiliated from Kashmir. Kashmiris have proved that they are a nation who will continue their struggle for freedom despite facing tremendous hardships,” he said.
“People of Kashmir, Doda, Kargil, Banihal, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch have defeated all machinations of the Indian state,” Rahman said in a statement.
