DCs asked to rope in relgious leaders for ‘peace building’

Srinagar: The government is roping in Chowkidars, Numberdars, Auqaf bodies and ‘social leaders’ to “restore peace in Kashmir.”
An order issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan on Monday asked deputy commissioners of nine districts in Kashmir to hold interaction with Chowkidars, Numberdars, Auqaf bodies and social leaders.
“You will recall the instructions regarding involvement of Chowkidars, Numberdars, Auqaf bodies and social leaders for restoration of peace and for contacting the youth to abhor violence,” Khan said.
He has directed the deputy commissioners to submit their reports within two-days indicating village-wise involvement of these persons.
