Police not allowing shops to open

Srinagar: Police forced shopkeepers and traders in Lal Chowk area to down shutters on Monday, preventing them from following the pro-freedom leaders’ instructions to open shops and commercial establishments after 6pm.
Sources said that the police department has been directed by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to enforce restrictions even after 6pm.
The police action led to resentment among the general public and particularly the shopkeepers who are decrying the ‘high-handedness’ of the police.
