KUTA expresses shock over killings

Srinagar: Kashmir University Teachers Association (KUTA) has expressed its sympathy with families who have lost their kith and kin and showed solidarity with injured persons.
In a meeting KUTA drew attention of human rights organisations to prevail upon the state to rein-in the trigger happy security forces to prevent further valuable human losses.
“Mass uprisings like the present one are not law and order problems but the reflection of unresolved Kashmir issue and India and Pakistan over the years have been sitting on this at the cost of innocent Kashmiri lives,”a KUTA statement said. KUTA demanded that serious initiatives should be undertaken by the two countries for an effective and peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
KUTA has impressed upon the security agencies to abandon the use of pellet guns that have resulted in hundreds of eye injuries and follow the Standard Operating Procedure in dealing with protesting youth.
KUTA has appreciated the role of doctors and para-medical staff and ambulance drivers who have been working endlessly for the past many days in saving human lives. The role of voluntary trusts and mohalla committees, NGO’s and other organisations is laudable for their efforts of providing relief, medicines and other utilities.
