Jammu: Secretary, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution department, Shafiq Ahmed Raina, on Sunday convened a meeting to review the supply and stock position of ration under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSES) in Jammu region.
Director CA&PD, GS Chib, officers of Legal Metrology department besides senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
The Secretary directed the Assistant Directors to ensure proper lifting, distribution, storage, transportation of ration and automation of fair price shops besides timely verifying all the sale centres and stores in their respective areas. He asked the officers of Legal Metrology Department to achieve area specific targets in time besides conducting regular market checking for ensuring that the people get adequate quantity of ration. He directed the concerned officers for initiating stringent action against the ration dealers indulging in overcharging, under-scaling or adulteration of food grains.
Raina directed the concerned officers to expedite the process of distribution of ration cards in Jammu besides rationalising the stock of food grains in the state. He also asked for further streamlining of distribution process of kerosene oil in far-flung areas of the state while directing them for ensuring supply of LPG cylinders to people at their doorsteps through a properly monitored home delivery system.
