Srinagar: At least nine mourners have been killed and around 250 others were injured, dozens critically, by government forces during fierce clashes that erupted against the killing of Hizb Commander Burhan Wani in Anantnag and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir on Saturday.
According to the witnesses, forces opened fire in several areas of Islamabad districts on protesters mourning the death of 22-year old Wani killing resulted in killing of four persons.
The deceased have been identified as Ajaz Thukroo of Siligam village of Aishmuqam, Yawar Manzoor of Khandroo, Abdul Hamid Moochi of Arwani and Showkat Ahmad of Bijbehara areas of Islamabad district.
The forces also resorted to heavy firing and teargas shelling in several areas of Kulgam district where two youths identified as Zubair Ahmad of Koimoh and Khursheed Ahmad of Harwat were killed by the forces.
Reports of heavy clashes, protests are pouring in from across the Valley. The funerals in absentia have been offered at number of places all over the Kashmir.
In Srinagar clashes are presently going on in several areas including, Chattabal, Tengpora area along with Saidapora area of Eidgah.
Protesters have also torched a few police stations in Achabal, Pattan and Koimoh areas of South Kashmir.
