SRINAGAR: The state received Rs 250 crore for implementing New Delhi-sponsored Ladli Beti scheme in six districts the last year, but not even a single penny was utilised, the government revealed on Monday.
According to a written response given by the government to the House, the scheme was launched on a pilot basis in Anantnag, Pulwama, and Budgam districts in Kashmir and in Kathua, Jammu, and Samba districts of Jammu division.
The districts were indentified on the basis of their low child sex ratio. Of the money allotted to them, not even a single penny has been spent on implementation of the scheme, the document showed.
As many as 2,244 beneficiaries have been approved for financial assistance under the scheme, it stated.
Under another New Delhi-sponsored scheme Beti Bachao, Beti Padao, only seven of the 15 districts have utilised the funds provided to them.
In samba, Baramulla, Rajouri, Kupwara, Kulgam, Bandipora, and Srinagar, Rs 77.7 crore allotted under the scheme have not been utilised.
