Mir condemns curbs on funeral prayers

Srinagar: Democratic Nationalist Party (DPN) president and former Agriculture minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Wednesday condemned the government action for not allowing separatists to hold the funeral prayers in absentia for Amanullah Khan who passed away on Tuesday in Rawalpindi.
Terming the incident as unfortunate, Mir said that the administration is not capable to deal with the situation and hence it didn’t allow separatist leaders to hold funeral prayers in absentia.
“Government should specify the place where the separatists will hold prayers in absentia for Amanullah Khan. It is a religious matter and everybody has right to perform the religious duty,” he said.
