Rashid questions motive behind the move, asks Anantnag residents not to vote for PDP

SRINAGAR: Awami Itihad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate, Er Rashid on Sunday said people voting for PDP in the upcoming by-election in Anantnag would be an acknowledgement of PDP-BJP alliance in the state.
He appealed people of Anantnag constituency to “show Mehbooba Mufti backdoor” and reject PDP, NC, and Congress.
As per a statement issued here, Rashid while addressing public meetings at Kehribal, Anantnag, said people of the district can make a history by showing Mehbooba Mufti backdoor in the upcoming election.
“And if it doesn’t happen it would mean acknowledging BJP-PDP alliance. Let people show maturity as rejecting Mehbooba will mean rejecting the RSS and Sangh Parivar and by rejecting NC and Congress, the politics of pseudo-secularism will come to an end,” Rashid said. He said Congress and NC need to learn that Kashmiris have rejected them in the 2014 elections. “Both parties are responsible not only for the creation of Kashmir dispute but also for each and every killing and atrocity taking place in Kashmir since 1947,” he said.
MLA Langate said the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti by saying that the families of Handwara killings be provided ex-gratia has “not only insulted the whole nation but added salt to the injuries of the bereaved families”.
“Government must also come clean over the reports of providing temporary shelter to non-state subjects. Lakh of such people are already residing here without any proper record or reason. Kashmiris won’t allow any such shelters for the non-state subjects,” MLA said.
