NC’s autonomy rhetoric: Party using slogans to deceive people, says Hurriyat (G)

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Sunday rejected the statement of National Conference about autonomy being the solution to Kashmir issue, saying the pro-India party has been using such slogans to deceive the people.
The conglomerate, in a statement issued here, said the people of Kashmir are fighting for the “complete freedom from Indian occupation” since last 7 decades and “not for the rhetoric autonomy”.
“NC along with Congress is responsible for all the miseries of Kashmiris. This party (NC) uses slogans like autonomy only for the sake of power and chair and believes in the politics of deceit,” it said.
Hurriyat (G) said even the formation of National Conference (from Muslim Conference) was an “act of treason with the blood of martyrs of 1931”.
“NC founder Sheikh Abdullah being a people’s representative helped Maharaja to give Kashmir to India. When world community pressurised India to hold plebiscite in Kashmir, Sheikh Abdullah in 1948 at UN Security Council opposed such demand. Then UN nominated Sir Owen Dixon as Kashmir representative to assess the plebiscite scenario but he (Sheikh) decided to establish a constitutional assembly to legitimise the Indian accession,” it said.
The conglomerate also asked people to introspect and “not repeat the mistakes like they gifted 58 seats to Sheikh Abdullah in 1977 even after the Indira-Abdullah Accord”.
“Whenever NC is in power, they advocate bombardment on Azad Kashmir and Pakistan and during opposition, their love for Pakistan, Kashmir, and autonomy is a mere lip-service,” it said.
