Ganderabl: Dumping of garbage in the irrigational canal near Makahe Bagh along the Nagbal-Gratabal road in Pandach area of center Kashmir’s Ganderbal district is becoming a health hazard and a constant irritant for the locals. The garbage is not only harming the canal but also emanating foul smell thus irritating the passersby particularly motorists.
Heaps of garbage is lying scattered in the irrigation canal and also on the road which passes through the area. The garbage dumping in the canal is proving hazardous as the water is used for irrigation of locals fields by the farmers.
Pollution level in the canal has increased manifolds and garbage dumping has given rise to the number of stray dogs, who have created terror in the area.
As there is no solid waste management facility available in the area, the heaps of garbage are a common sight in the area and the district administration seems to be in a slumber.
