Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has kick started the second phase for capturing of biometric data for completion of Aadhaar project at identified locations. The work has been started in ward no 1, 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 16, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30 and 32 respectively..
All the ward officers have been directed to ensure participation of the people through enumerators (block wise) in the relevant centre’s and these enumerators shall fully assist the citizens in enrollment during the process.
Meanwhile SMC Commissioner Bashir Ahmed Khan conducted an extensive tour of the Srinagar city to inspect the progress on various works. Khan, accompanied by senior officers visited various areas of the city to review the ongoing SMC works with greater focus on sanitation, street lighting and building regulation activities. Khan directed SMC officials to expedite the overall works and encouraged the sanitary workers for improving sanitation in some wards. He showed displeasure over sanitation of certain areas.
SMC Commissioner later called a meeting of all the ward officers and had a detailed discussion with his subordinates on various issues related to sanitation, repairing of street lights, conservation of heritage and other development aspects. Directions were passed to maintain consistency in qualitative sanitation particularly in outskirts and fix more smart bins at different spots in these areas.
In a meeting held recently, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti announced sanitation wards for areas showing improvement in hygienic conditions.
Expressing anguish over encroachments in some areas, Khan confiscated various goods displayed on roads, during his city tour. He directed the enforcement wing to destroy all seized items.
