Protest in Beerwah against youth’s detention

BEERWAH: Protests erupted on Thursday in Beerwah town of central Kashmir’s Budgam district after government forces detained a youth on charges of stone pelting.

34-year-old Mukhtar Ahmad Beigh, who has tyre business in Beerwah market, has been thrashed and detained by CRPF early on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the locals claimed the two accomplices of the Beigh however, managed to escape when police tried to detain them.

This comes after police, three days ago while provoking children at playground, had said, “Beerwah doesn’t have men who can clash with forces.” And the children responded with stones.

According to the protesters, Police is conducting nocturnal raids in the area from past few days.

“The police has made a list of 30 youths who will be detained,” Nazir Ahmad,a protester said.
