I-League 2nd Division: LSKFC lose another home fixture as Dempo Sports winning march continues

Srinagar: Dempo Sports, Goa continued its good show in the second division of the I-League football tournament, defeating Lone Star Kashmir Football Club (LKFC) 1-0 at the TRC ground here on Monday.
LSKFC’s four fixtures haven’t given them much joy, losing two and managing to draw as many.
In the first half both teams LSKFC and Dempo FC battled hard for the goals and the quality of sport was quite intense with both teams not ready to concede an inch. The teams went into the break with nothing to show off in the goals’ column for their attacking soccer. Chances were created by the both teams, but lacked the finishing touches.
Crowd was behind LSKFC, wanting the hosts to win. Everytime the side missed a chance to score, TRC ground was echoed with oohs and aahs- a clear depiction of disappointment.
In the second half Dempo FC pressed attacking button to make continuous advances on the LSKFC goal post from both flanks and managed to take the lead in the 55th minute of the game. Dempo striker outsmarted the LSKFC goalkeeper to put the ball in the net.
The visitors in the second half had upper hand as far ball possession was concerned as LSKFC looked clueless and out of sorts.
Dempo showed strong defence to thwart any attacking play from LSKFC in their bid to find an equaliser. Visitors maintained the lead till the final whistle blew.
Support staff from the LSKFC team did bring some changes in the last minutes, but it didn’t yield the desired result of adding to the goal column.
Dempo FC head coach Mauricio Afonso while talking to Kashmir Reader at the end of the game said, “the credit must go to the boys for putting their full effort whole heartedly to have results in their favor.”
LSKFC will meet Minerva Academy F.C in their next fixture April 24 at Chandigarh.
LSKFC Head coach Hilal Parry has been handed a four match suspension by All India Football Federation for showing dissent over some decisions.
