Kashmir University students protest against Kupwara killings

Srinagar: Fresh protests rocked University of Kashmir in Hazratbal against the killing of youths in Kupwara last week.

Students from various departments of the university including girls participated in the protests and raised slogans in favour of Azaadi and Burhan Wani,new face of armed revolt in Kashmir.

Hundreds of students gathered outside the humanities department of the campus and marched through the other departments shouting pro-freedom slogans and holding placards.

The slogans were also shouted against the government, police and the Indian army.

The students were demanding action against the forces, who opened fire during the protests and killed five persons including a woman and left dozens of protesters injured in Kupwara district.

Three persons including a woman were killed on Tuesday in army firing during the protests against an alleged molestation of a minor girl by an army man in Handwara town while two more youth were killed on Wednesday and Friday respectively during the protests following the killings of three persons in the district.

The protests later ended in the humanities block with some students addressing their counterparts.
