SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Friday said the continuous house detention of its chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, is taking toll on the elderly leader’s health.
It also said the government would be responsible “if anything untoward happens with Geelani Sahib”.
In a statement issued here, a spokesman of the conglomerate, Ayaz Akbar, said the authorities have increased deployment of forces outside Geelani’s residence.
He said even doctors have cited Geelani’s continuous house detention as the main reason of his ill health.
“Since Geelani Sahib returned from New Delhi on April 6, authorities have cordoned off his office-cum-residence,” he said.
Akbar said placing hundreds of activists and leaders behind the bars prior to protest call is “state terrorism and frustration of PDP-led government”.
