NEW DELHI: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Tuesday expressed grief over the sad demise of former Chief Secretary of J&K, Noor Mohammad.
Paying rich tributes, Mehbooba Mufti described the former bureaucrat as an excellent officer who rose to become the Chief Secretary of the State. She said his contribution in the development of J&K will be vividly remembered.
The Chief Minister conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved family members in their hour of grief and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Chief Secretary, B R Sharma too has expressed condolences on the demise of Noor Mohammad.
Noor Mohammad remained Chief Secretary of J&K from 1st May, 1980 to 31st December, 1983.
Immediately after hearing the news about the demise of Noor Mohammad, a condolence meeting was convened at the Civil Secretariat in which Chief Secretary, B R Sharma and administrative Secretaries participated.
Recalling the contribution of Noor Mohammad, Chief Secretary said that he was held in very high esteem as a Civil Servant and was among those who have left an everlasting impression in administration.
“We pray for peace to the departed soul and express our sympathies with the bereaved family members” Chief Secretary said.
Two minute silence was also observed in the condolence meeting, to pay homage to the departed soul.
Noor Mohammad (IAS) was born on 25th December, 1925.
He was appointed to IAS in January, 1958. He served the State Government in various capacities including administrative Secretary, Agriculture, Finance, Planning and Development.
He was appointed as Chief Secretary on 1st May1980 and retired on 31st December 1983.
Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) too has condoled the demise of former Chief Secretary.
