Kangan: Protestors on Monday blocked Srinagar-Leh highway at Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. They were protesting against the authorities for failing to complete construction of a bridge on river Sindh.
Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded due to the blockade as commuters including school children and employees faced hardships. Protesters said that the bridge was awaiting completion for last over 11-years, due to which the local residents were facing immense hardships.
The bridge is located over river Sindh and connects far flung areas of Yachama with Tehsil headquarter Kangan. It is also a vital link with the Srinagar-Leh highway. The construction on the bridge started in 2005 but has not been completed in 11 years.
