Masarat sent to Baramulla jail on judicial remand

SRINAGAR: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Secretary General and Muslim League chief, Masarat Aalam was Saturday sent to eleven days judicial remand to Baramulla sub-jail.
A spokesman of Muslim League said that Masarat Aalam was presented before judicial court Srinagar where police asked for more time under judicial remand.
Masarat Aalam was detained in Shaheed Gunj police station for last fifteen days. “Police have opened a new case in Shaheed Gunj police station and he was produced in that case in court today,” the spokesman said.
Represented by his lawyer, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Masarat Aalam was bailed out in 154 A, 13 unlawful activities before third Munsif, he added.
Last year Alam was released in March after spending four years in jail, triggering a political row in the state. The then ruling People’s Democratic Party under pressure from ally BJP and the Centre rearrested him on April 17 last year on charges of sedition and waging war against the state. He had on April 15 allegedly raised pro-Pakistan slogans at a rally organized to welcome Hurriyat (G) leader Syed Ali Geelani in Srinagar where Pakistani flags were also hoisted.
