SRINAGAR: Days after authorities ordered suspension of the traffic from the Jehangir chowk-Rambagh road in view of the fly-over construction work, the Solina traders on Saturday blocked the road to protest against the ruling.

The protesting traders claimed that the suspension of the traffic (from Monday) on the said route will hamper their business.

“We don’t know what to do. From Monday there would be no traffic on the route,” a local shopkeeper told Kashmir Reader.

“What about our lively hood? The administration should have rehabilitated us before taking such a decision,” he said.

Hundreds of vehicles were stranded for more than five hours as the road leading to Lal Chowk from Rambagh was blocked.

However, the traffic on the road was resumed only after police detained around 30 shopkeepers including Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, president of the Solina traders association.
