Mirwaiz calls for shutdown on Tuesday against harassment of Kashmiri students

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday called for complete shutdown on Tuesday (April 12) against the growing incidents of “harassment, bullying, and victimisation” of Kashmiri students studying in various states of India.
In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz said, “It seems the right-wing extremist elements in India are hell bent upon taking away Kashmiri students’ right of education and force them out of the institutions by assaulting and harassing them.”
“It is a serious concern for the people of Kashmir. Also it is the moral and legal responsibility of the concerned state governments and the government of India to ensure the safety and security of Kashmiri students,” he said.
