SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday organised a remembrance meet to pay tributes to the former president of Jamiat Ahle Hadith J&K, Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah, on his 5th death anniversary.
As per a statement issued here, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik while addressing a meeting at party headquarters here termed Moulana Showkat a ‘charismatic and multi-dimensional personality who would always be remembered for his efforts towards freedom and to eradicate sectarianism from Jammu and Kashmir’.
“Moulana Showkat’s philanthropic works, his contribution in the field of education, his dream of Transworld Muslim University, establishing of non-profit-based heath care centers, and his leadership qualities bear witness that he was a legendary figure, who cannot be ignored even by his enemies,” Malik said.
Malik said that Moulana Showkat worked tirelessly for the cause of unity among Muslims of J&K. “He was a brave son of soil who despite many adversaries remained steadfast to the cause and embraced martyrdom. Those who conspired and attacked him got nothing but the everlasting shame and disgrace,” he said.
Other JKLF leaders also paid homage to the religious leader.
Meanwhile JKLF chairman condemned the desecration of martyrs’ graveyard at Kareemabad, Pulwama by Indian forces.
Malik said, “This inhuman and unholy act is a handiwork of beasts. Desecration of graveyards is work of insane people. It has once again proved that Indian forces, its rulers and their Kashmiri stooges are frustrated.”
