opore: To create awareness among the youth regarding effects of drug addiction, Sopore police in collaboration with Students Association of Sopore has started a drug de-addiction week, during which many awareness programmes are scheduled.
In this connection a seminar was held at Dak Banglow, Sopore under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Sopore Harmeet Singh. A good number of people including students and officials of government departments attended the seminar.
SP Harmeet Singh while speaking on the occasion said that drug addiction is a menace which needs to be addressed immediately. He said that it was the moral duty of every one to contribute for its eradication. He further said that the aim of conducting such events was make students aware about the evils of drug addiction. He said that the main aim to conduct such programmes was to create awareness among the students and smokers with the sole objective to eradicate the menace from Sopore town.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest and deputy commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal said that drug menace in any society is the biggest challenge for the administration. She expressed deep concern over the growing drug addictions in the society. She suggested involvement of youth in the co- curriculum activities so that they can be kept away from this menace. She announced the two drug reconciliation centers will be set up in both colleges of district Baramulla.
