SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday organised a remembrance meeting to pay tribute to the former president of Jamiat Ahle Hadith J&K, Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah, on his 5th anniversary.
As per a statement issued here, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik while addressing a meeting at party headquarters here termed Moulana Showkat as a “charismatic and multi-dimensional personality who would always be remembered for his efforts towards freedom and to eradicate sectarianism from Jammu and Kashmir”.
“Moulana Showkat’s philanthropic works, his contribution in the field of education, his dream of Transworld Muslim University, establishing of non-profit-based heath care centers, and his leadership bear witness that he was a legendary figure who cannot be ignored even by his enemies,” Malik said.
Malik said Moulana Showkat worked tirelessly for the cause of unity among Muslims of J&K. “He was a brave son of soil who despite many adversities remained steadfast to the cause and embraced martyrdom. Those who conspired against him and attacked him got nothing but the everlasting shame and disgrace,” he said.
Other JKLF leaders also paid homage to the religious leader.
