SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Tuesday urged the students enrolled in different professional colleges of Kashmir, including NIT Srinagar, to “remain focused on studies and try to maintain the atmosphere of harmony and cordiality”.
In a statement issued here, a spokesman of the conglomerate said students must “maintain the credibility of these institutions and should prevent themselves from indulging in any sort of bickering”.
He said the incidents of recent harassment and arrest of Kashmiri students studying in different educational institutions across India are “unfortunate and a matter of concern”.
“Such acts of harassment and bullying against Kashmiri students is causing serious and negative impact on their educational career and is becoming a reason of great worry for their parents,” he said.
“In past, many Kashmiri students were targeted and even rusticated on flimsy pretexts from different professional colleges of India. The safety of these students is the legal and moral responsibility of the governments of the concerned states.
“The government of India should take serious notice of the acts wherein people with the communal mindset indulge in targeting Kashmiri students with violence on just petty issues,” the spokesman said.
