Srinagar: Pro-freedom leadership on Tuesday condemned the continuous detention of Democratic Freedom Party’s chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah, and also the authorities’ decision of not allowing him to participate in the last rites of his aunt.
A spokesman of Hurriyat Conference (M), in a statement issued here, said the government’s decision of stopping Shah in the hour of grief was “highly condemnable and undemocratic”.
Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) also condemned the government action.
JKLF (R) chairman Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bita Karate in a statement issued here expressed solidarity with Shah on his aunt’s demise.
Senior pro-freedom leader Javid Ahmad Mir also condoled Shah on the demise of his aunt. He expressed solidarity and sympathy with Shah, and also condemned the government for not allowing him to participate in the funeral.
