Pampore: Restrictions continued in Khrew village for the third consecutive day in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district in order to give safe passage to trucks loaded with cement.
Residents of Khrew have been demanding disbanding of a rival truck union floated in the area and were frequently attacking the trucks of the union.
Superintendent of police Awantipora, Sridhar Patil said since cement is one of the essential commodities, its supply needs to be maintained to avoid its black marketing.
The trucks plying on the road need to be safe guarded from the attack of miscreants as has happened earlier.
He said from Sunday the authorities have been ensuring the cement is loaded in trucks.
Amid tight security cement was loaded into trucks from almost all the factories in Khrew and its peripheral villages on Sunday.
Clashes between police and residents had intensified after the residents rejected floating of rival truck union in the area and attacked a police vehicle carrying lady police constables.
