Srinagar: Terming the statement of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader, Pravin Togadia, as “provocative”, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Monday said minorities of India are feeling unsafe due to people like Togadia.
Togadia had on Sunday said that cow slaughterers and those supporting Afzal Guru should be hanged.
“The presence of people like Togadia is endangering the safety and security of minorities living in India. This is nothing but a fascist mindset. His remarks clearly reveal he is a mentally disturbed person,” a DFP spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
Asking Indian government to rein in “killers” like Togadia, he said the VHP leader “needs some psychiatric treatment”.
“RSS and VHP must also bear in mind that spitting venom against the JNU students won’t be tolerated. Now voices in favour of Kashmiris’ fight for justice are rising,” he said.
He also condemned the reports of “anti-Muslim” incident having taken place in Jammu. He said threatening Muslim employees followed by authorities’ silence over it makes it clear that communal elements are given a free hand there. “Such incidents should stop forthwith,” he said.
The spokesperson condemned the continuous house arrest of its Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, and other pro-freedom leaders.
“Shabir Ahmad Shah has been kept under house imprisonment for last eight months. Currently, he continues to be lodged in Raj Bagh police station and is not released. This is the frustration of the so-called administration,” he said.
