Pampore, Panthachowk shut on 4th day to mourn killing of foreign militants

PAMPORE: A shutdown continued in Pampore, Panthachowk and adjoining areas for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday over the killing of three foreign militants in a 48-hour long gunfight with government forces on Monday evening.
All shops and business establishments were closed, even as traffic was normal. Police and CRPF were deployed on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Pampore to thwart protests, witnesses said.
Three militants, five security personnel and a civilian were killed in the gunfight at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) building in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
