Register case against DC, SHO: Jama’at

SRINAGAR: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) on Tuesday expressed its anger over the demolishing drive carried by Jammu Developmental Authority (JDA) in Bari-Brahmana, Jammu.
“Communal and fascist officials have demolished dozens of houses belonging to Gujjar Muslims,” JeI spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
He said the Gujjar Muslims were residing in the same area since decades. “The authorities at the behest of local MLA with support of RSS goons have damaged the houses and other property worth Lakhs. When Muslims resisted this move they were ruthlessly beaten by police accompanying RSS goons,” the spokesperson said, adding, police also resorted to indiscriminate firing on protestors in which Muhammad Yaqoub of Vijaypur got killed and dozens were injured.
The JeI spokesperson alleged that has been done to create fear among Muslim community so as to compel them to leave the place. “Police used its authority quite against the basic norms of law to please the communal elements at whose behest they demonstrated this terrific attitude towards the innocent poor population.”
He said a team of Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu led by the local Ameer Abdul Kareem Nadvi visited the place and expressed their sympathy with the victims. “JeI supported the genuine public demand of registering a case of murder against the DC Sheetal Nanda and SHO concerned Bharat Sharma and those who are involved in this hooliganism,” he added.
