BARAMULLA: A bridge in main market Baramulla which was closed for the vehicular movement after 2014 floods collapsed on Tuesday.
The wooden and oldest bridge in Baramulla located near fish market namely SRTC Bridge which connects old town Baramulla with rest of the district collapsed on Tuesday afternoon.
The bridge was closed by the district administration for the vehicular movement after it got damaged in 2014 floods. “Since the day of devastating floods, the authorities didn’t repaired the bridge thereby resulted in the fall down,” said a local.
He said they approached the higher ups several times for the restoration of the bridge but no to avail. “We have been assured by the officials that the bridge will be repaired soon but nothing has been done in this regard,” he said.
However, no loss of life was reported due to collapse of the bridge.
