SRINAGAR: Over 400 officers, 11 of them IAS, are yet to submit their Immovable Property Returns (IPRs) to government.
The IAS defaulters include Arun Kumar Mehta (joint secretary in the ministry of environment, forest and climate change), Shantmanu (chief electoral officer of J&K), Ashok Kumar Parmar (commissioner secretary Tribal Affairs), Asgar Samoon (divisional commissioner Kashmir), Pandurang Kondbarao Pole (on deputation to Maharashtra), Salma Hamid (awaiting orders in GAD), Tasneem Maajid (special secretary PDD), Mohammad Javed Khan (custodial general), Saugat Biswas (project director RMSA), Niraj Kumar (deputy commissioner Pulwma), and Parveez Iqbal (transport commissioner).
Additional secretary Pankaj K Sharma said that the IAS officers have been asked to furnish the Immovable Property Returns for the year 2015 to the General Administration (Vigilance) by or before Friday.
“In case of default, it will be presumed that they (officers) have violated the rule,” Sharma said in a order.
Similarly, there are more than four hundred KAS officers whose APR details have not been furnished the property details to government so far.
Every public servant including a KAS officer is required to submit annual returns of the assets held by him/her and the family members to GAD in January every year.
They are also required to indicate the reasons for increase, if any, in the assets and source as per the Act. The Act and Rules provide for imposing a penalty for non-submission of the property returns.
If any public servant without any reasonable cause fails to submit the return annually, he or she shall be guilty of committing “criminal misconduct.”
