SRINAGAR: Carpet weavers of Srinagar city on Friday protested at Press Enclave here asking the government to immediately fill the post of President for JK State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC).
The protesters told Kashmir Reader that leaving the commission headless has diminished their hopes of getting their disputes resolved with several insurance companies at the earliest.
The protesters said that most of the carpet wavers have cases pending in the commission wherein they have challenged the insurance companies mostly seeking compensations for the losses suffered by them during the September 2014 floods.
A carpet weaver, Abdul Khaliq said that justice is getting delayed as our cases are pending in the commission for more the five months now and decisions could help us get our claims and restart our business once again.
The commission has remained headless after its former president, Justice (Retd) B A Kirmani was moved to head the State Accountability Commission (SAC) as its member in September 2105.
