‘Tried, tested coercive methods will not succeed’

SRINAGAR: The J&K High Court Bar Association, Srinagar, on Wednesday condemned the arrest of pro-freedom leaders, saying the “nefarious designs” of stopping them from raising their voice will not succeed.
“Government, police, and other agencies know it well that they have tried these methods and tactics in past also, but they did not succeeded in their nefarious designs of stopping the pro-freedom leaders from raising their voice against the Indian oppression,” the lawyers’ body said in a statement issued here.
Bar also condemned the imposition of curfew in Lal Chowk and its surrounding areas on Wednesday, and requested Amnesty International, Human Rights Group, Asia Watch, OIC and other human rights organisations of the world to take notice of the situation in Kashmir.
The organisations, it said, should pressurise India to stop “genocide of Kashmiris”.
