SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani, will leave for New Delhi on Saturday for a “detailed health checkup”.
A spokesman of the conglomerate said on Friday that Geelani’s “experiment” in Kashmir has failed, compelling him to shift to New Delhi.
“This year, Geelani Sahab had decided not to visit Delhi and preferred staying in the Valley with his people. But this experiment didn’t work for him. The artificial warmth in the closed room proved harmful for his health,” he said in a statement issued here.
“Geelani used to walk in his lawn, but the winter hasn’t allowed him to do so. Also, his confinement to house has proved detrimental to his health.”
He said the doctors had termed Geelani’s continuous imprisonment as the basic cause for his ill-health, generating a hope that the government would revisit its policies and release him.
“As nothing like that happened, the party decided that Geelani Sahab will leave for Delhi to get a detailed health checkup done. We appeal people to pray for their leader’s early recovery,” the spokesman said.
