SRINAGAR: Commercial Taxes Department this year has roistered a growth of 13 percent in tax collection with it realizing Rs 1089.27 till the end of January that last year was 964.84.
This was disclosed during a review meeting held by Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Friday to see the performance of the department in Kashmir division.
It was given out in the meeting that nearly 13 percent growth was registered in tax collection in Kashmir division till January2016. The Commissioner was informed that there was an increase of Rs. 95.10 crores and Rs 29.50 crores revenue realisation under VAT and GST respectively till ending January 2016, thus registering a growth of 19.13 percent and 6.35 percent accordingly.
Khan asked the officers to work with zeal and directed for strict action against tax defaulters.
