UN’s silence boosts Indian forces to continue HR violations in JK, says Shah

SRINAGAR: Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah on Sunday said the silence of United Nations and the world leadership “encourages the Indian occupational forces to continue grave human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir”.
“On one hand, Kashmiri people continue to offer immense sacrifices for the freedom from India and on other side, the silence of UN and world leadership over the situation in Kashmir boosts and encourages the occupational forces to continue the human rights violations in the state,” Shah said in a statement issued here.
Terming the resolution of Kashmir issue as vital for world peace, Shah said Shah said UN cannot shun its responsibilities towards Kashmir issue and has to resolve it. “If Kashmir issue is prolonged, it will prove detrimental to peace in South Asia.”
The DFP chairman said it is extremely unfortunate that world leadership and UN are claiming to resolve the ongoing conflicts but are ignoring the situation in Jammu Kashmir. “Such silence reveals the dubious nature of the world body and the international community. Until the weaker nations are not given the right to self determination, to maintain the world peace is impossible.”
