Pro-freedom leaders remember Wamiq Farooq, 2010 martyrs

SRINAGAR: The pro-freedom leaders on Sunday paid tributes to Wamiq Farooq, a teenager who was killed by government forces in 2010, even as they participated in the congregation prayers (Dua-e-Majlis) organised at martyrs’ graveyard here, on his 6th anniversary.
On the occasion, the heads or delegations of Democratic Freedom Party, JKLF (H), Islamic Political Party-JK, Tehreek-e-Mazhamat and Muslim Democratic League while paying tributes to Wamiq Farooq and all 2010 martyrs said, “The murderers of these youth are still roaming free and unfortunate parents are still waiting for the justice.”
“The people of Kashmir have given matchless sacrifices for the freedom movement. The international community should announce probe into the day-to-day killings taking place here. It is highly shocking that the killers of these innocents are still roaming free while as their parents await justice,” the leaders said.
They said India is using “zionist policies and genocidal tactics” to suppress the freedom struggle of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued here, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah, while paying tribute to Wamiq Farooq and 2010 martyrs said, ““We can never forget them. The 2010 martyrs are the assets and heroes of our freedom movement. We continue to feel the pain over the loss of those young ones and can very well understand the plight of their families. It is very shameful that the culprits, instead of getting tried in the court of justice, were awarded promotions. That was the murder of law and justice.”
