ANANTNAG: General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps Lieutenant General Satish Dua said on Thursday that “indoctrination of the youth to join militant ranks” in the Valley is a “major cause of concern” for security agencies.
“Indoctrination of the youth is a major concern for us but army in coordination with others is utilising all its resources to get them back in the mainstream. We are organising different programs and giving them platform to prove their potential,” the GOC told reporters after inaugurating a ‘Youth Guidance Node’ at the High Ground Army School.
The GOC said more than 200 militants are active across the Valley, while claiming no militant has infiltrated into Kashmir from across the border recently.
“Our infiltration grid on the borders is very strong and we ensure that all the attempts of infiltration from other side are foiled,” the GOC said.
Replying to a question about the army’s strategy after the militant attack on the Pathankot airbase, the GOC said, “There has been no change in our policies. Our policies remain the same in dealing with the militancy. We are very much prepared and capable to deal with any situation. Republic Day functions that went smoothly across the valley are the proof of our preparedness and vigilance.”
