Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Anantnag slain militant Mushtaq Ahmad Haroo, who was killed in a gunfight with government forces in south Kashmir’s Kokernag area on Tuesday.
“During the past seven decades of the ongoing resistance movement, people of Kashmir have given enormous sacrifices for the Kashmir cause and these sacrifices were like soul and running blood in the body of the movement,” a Hurriyat (M) spokesman said in a statement issued here.
Condemning the use of force and atrocities carried by the forces on the civilian population in the entire area following the martyrdom of Mushtaq, the spokesman said: “The state administration had imposed severe restrictions in the entire district and indulged in oppressive tactics against the common people.”
Terming Kashmir issue a living reality, the Hurriyat (M) spokesman said for making any dialogue on Kashmir meaningful and result-oriented, it was necessary for New Delhi and Islamabad to involve real leadership of Kashmir in the dialogue process and resolve the issue as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, expressing sorrow over the devastating fire that gutted Jamia Masjid and historic library in Bejhama, Uri, the spokesman termed it as huge loss in which rare books and other important literature got destroyed.
