SRINAGAR: President Tehreek-e-Kashmir, General Moosa on Monday said India must respect the sanctity of democracy and grant Kashmiris their right to self determination.
“This is our birth right, which has been endorsed by the international community. India cannot deprive us of it. If India allows this right to Kashmiri people, it will be contributing to a prosperous and peaceful world,” Moosa said in a statement issued on the eve of January 26.
“When India is celebrating its Republic Day, the entire population of Kashmir is subjected to search operations, arrests, detentions, and tortures,” he said.
Moosa said Kashmir is the only state in South Asian region where the entire population “is caged against their will and wishes”. He demanded release of all political prisoners languishing in jails within and outside the state.
