Why should we vote, ask Sikhs of Tral

TRAL: South Kashmir’s Tral hardly voted in Thursday’s Lok Sabha polls and it did rub on Sikh community in the area as well. The Sikhs followed the majority community in boycotting the election.
The Sikhs who live in great numbers in areas like Kandistan, Devar, Saimoh, Daramgund and Gadpora didn’t visit the polling stations to exercise their franchise.
“When our Muslim brothers don’t go for vote why should we? And these politicians have always failed us,” a group of young Sikhs at Kandistan told Kashmir Reader.
They said they have always respected the local sentiments and follow what the majority community does.
“We have always respected the sentiments of our Muslim brothers as we have to live with them forever,” a young Sikh said
