Shutdown to mark anniversary of slain militants

Baramulla: A complete shutdown was observed in the main town of this north Kashmir district on Wednesday to mark the anniversary of two Hizb commanders killed by government forces in 2008.
Shops and other private business establishments and government offices remained closed against the killing of Hizb ul Mujahidin commanders Imtiyaz Ahmad Zarger and Tanveer Ahmad Khan in an encounter with Army’s 46 RR in Khawajabagh area on April 23, 2008.
Authorities had deployed police and CRPF men in strength at several places even as some youth pelted stones at the forces near Khanpora bridge and Gulnar park bridge.
