Srinagar: Amid a shutdown , people took to streets and staged demonstrations against the arrest of youth during nocturnal raids in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Tuesday.
Reports said that over a dozen youth were arrested by police in Armpora, Batpora and other areas for their alleged involvement in stone pelting incidents.
Amid a shutdown in Sopore town, people took to streets early morning and were chased away by police and CRPF personnel who also burst teargas shells to disperse them.
Meanwhile, protests also erupted in south Kashmir’s Shopian town on Tuesday against the arrest of 15 youth in nocturnal raids.
Reports said that a shutdown was also observed in Shopian town and police used force to disperse youth who took to streets against the arrest spree. (With inputs from Mushtaq Ahmad in Baramulla)
