Anantnag: Sitting Member Parliament and National Conference’s candidate for Anantnag parliamentary segment Mehboob Beg on Wednesday filed his nomination papers.
Beg who is locked in a direct contest with opposition PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, was flanked by the party patron Farooq Abdullah, state Congress chief Saif-ud-Din Soz, Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo and many other Congress and NC leaders.
Beg is the third candidate to file his nominations for Anantnag parliamentary seat. On Wednesday PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and AAP candidate Tanveer Maqbool Dar had filed their nominations.
The leaders of both the parties later jointly addressed a rally at Dak Bungalow Khanabal.
The notification for the Anantnag parliamentary seat was issued on March 31 and last date for filing nominations is April 5. The constituency is slated to go for polls on April 24.
