Hurriyats slam Farooq’s ‘maha- chor’ slur against Kashmiris

Srinagar: Parallel Hurriyat factions led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Geelani Monday castigated National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah’s purported remark about Kashmiris being “maha-chors(big thieves).”
“Faroooq Abdullah has cast a slur on the honour and character of Kashmiris  by calling  them as thieves,” a spokesman for the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat said in  a statement here.
“Parties involved in the loot and barter of Kashmiris’ resources for decades should go for self-introspection before levelling wild allegations against Kashmiri people and branding them as thieves,” the spokesman said.
Farooq’s remark was in fact an attempt to put a veil over the “failure of the state government to provide electricity and other basic amenities to people,” the spokesman said.
“It is also a fact that so-called legislators and mainstream politicians and parties besides govermment departments are the major defaulters as far as power tariff is concerned,” the spokesman said.
The parallel Hurriyat faction termed Farooq’s remark as an “insult  to the entire Kashmiri nation .”
“It’s ironic that a man whose entire life revolves around dishonesty and falsehood should level such allegations against each others,” the amalgam said in a statement.
“History bears witness that the Abdullah family has  never missed an opportunity to insult Kashmiri people ,” the statement  said.
