Protest against oppression is people’s fundamental right: Jama’at

SRINAGAR: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir Saturday said that people of the state have been deprived of democratic rights as fascism disguised as democracy has been imposed in the state.

“To prevent people from protesting against the oppression and atrocities, which is their right, amounts to providing justification to these undemocratic acts,” a statement issued by Jama’at spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali said.

He said this was the fundamental right of people in democracy without which there can be no concept of a democratic system.

“However, people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly, Valley, have been deprived of this fundamental right as fascism and imperialism disguised as democracy have been imposed in the state,” the statement added.

The statement, while describing the situation in Kashmir as disappointing demanded immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners detained in different jails.

It also demanded immediate release of all the persons detained in different police stations.
