‘Some parts of Ladakh declared as wildlife sanctuary’

Jammu: Some parts of Ladakh region have been declared as wildlife sanctuary, the Assembly was informed Wednesday.
J&K Minister for Forests and Environments Mian Altaf Ahmed stated this while replying to a question in the Legislative Assembly.
The inhabitants of the region, however, are not required to seek permission from the wildlife department for construction work, the minister said.
Reports of conflict between humans and wild animals are frequently received from the region and to tackle these, wildlife stewards have been engaged, Ahmed said.
